The discovery
In 1893, the French chemist Henri Moissan discovered a sensation:
Crystals hidden in a meteorite crater. It was natural Moissanite – an extremely rare stone that turned out to be harder than sapphire and with a luster that surpassed that of diamond . The problem was that it was almost impossible to find in nature.
